We continue to experience reduced capacity due to sickness across our GP team and will continue to do so at least until the end of February. All appointment requests are triaged by a GP and appointments are allocated according to clinical need. There may be times that we have to switch eConsult off on-line to help us manage demand. We will continue to take requests over the telephone or at our front desk but we may have to restrict requests to urgent medical problems only.
To assist pressures in primary care, across Warrington and Nationally, The Pharmacy First service will be available to patients on referral from GPs, NHS 111, and NHS walk-in centres/urgent care centres from 31st January 2024. It will offer treatment for seven common conditions, including:
- a sore throat
- infected insect bites
- uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women
We have been fortunate to be able to book locum sessions with GP’s that locum for us regularly and know our team and systems. This will reduce some of the pressure of appointment capacity but our GP’s continue to have additional admin work to process in their colleagues absences.
We are managing to meet our target of completing repeat prescriptions within 2 working days but acute medications (new or something you haven’t had for a while/received from hospital) may take longer to process.
Please bear with us whilst we try to navigate this situation.
